DIV ONE:
Graham Cooksley and Woodland Fort B won their first ever point in Division One beating Colin Mitchell 11-9, 11-8, 11-8, unfortunately this was their only point in the 9-1 loss but the matches were played in great spirit.
Steve Garlick of Shopfitting by SWS C had no travel problems going to Crafthole A taking all of his teams three points whilst his team mates must have suffered car sickness!
Molyneux Associates A (Tony Sweet 3) defeated one of their closest rivals Shopfitting by SWS A 8-2 but they had to fight hard for the points. Johnny Hill and Mike Briggs won the SWS points defeating Paul Haigh and Glyn Price respectively.
Steve Hill of Molyneux Associates B continues his excellent play with a maximum for his team in a 7-3 win over Shopfitting by SWS D. With his normal defender style of play his attacking shots have proven to be outrageously reliable. The whole evening had a mixture of defence and attacking shots but most importantly all matches were played with a great sporting spirit.
DIV TWO:
Seventeen-year-old Toby Spencer is continuing to impress this season as he claimed another maximum for Molyneux Associates C in his team 8-2 victory over Shopfitting by SWS E. Left hander Chris Tucker won both of SWS’s points but he failed to defat Spencer after being 2-1 ahead losing 8-11, 11-8, 11-8, 7-11, 4-11.
With some very close sets, Astor B beat Lee Mill 7-3 but the match could have gone either way; notably Ann Warren’s match with Ken Chambers. The third game swayed to and fro with Warren eventually getting the necessary two-point lead to win 20-18 but despite this Chambers was eventually triumphant. Alper Eroglu (Astor) had a great game against Richard Smaridge which resulted in rare loss for Smaridge.
With a venue changed to accommodate Astor A, Crafthole B gave the home advantage away. Crafthole evidently were missing in-form player Anthony Shapland losing 3-7. There was a comfortable maximum for Steve Harvey, accompanied with braces form Andy Watmore and Clive Davies.
Shopfitting by SWS F had to call on Isa Puente from Horrabridge (Div 3) to stand in for their match against Woodland Fort A. A Trevor Mole, Mel Birwe and Puente all claimed braces in their 6-4 victory. With five matches going to the fifth end and two going to the fourth end the match could have swung either way!
DIV THREE:
Unfortunately, Molyneux Associates F could only muster 2 players for their match against Horrabridge. Shaun Hughes came closest to winning a set against Crispin Jordan, but it was not to be Molyneux’s night, losing 10 nil.
Fitness At Home whitewashed the bottom side Astor C but Dave Nash and Paul Eaton (Astor) are gradually improving with both taking a game.
Abi Obanla of Molyneux Associates E won a hard earnt maximum in the drawn match against Woodland Fort C. Twice Obanla had to come from 2 games down against Richard Searle and Mike Willis to win the remaining games and win the sets.
The young team of Shopfitting by SWS G defeated Molyneux Associates D 8-2 where most sets were won in four games. Jack Heinemann was the only player to secure a maximum.

All of Crafthole A’s players won braces over Shopfitting by SWS D. The match between Crafthole’s Iain Oxenham and SWS’s Steve Foster was a topsy-turvy match with Foster just winning 12-14, 11-4, 5-11, 11-4, 13-12
DIV TWO:
Shopfitting by SWS F turned up at Lee Mill but after playing his first match, Tony Bray felt unwell and had to concede his remaining two matches. Trevor Mole (SWS) managed to secure his team’s only points in their 2-8 loss with Richard Smaridge claiming a perfect maximum and braces from Mark Chapman and Ann Warren for the Millers.
Shopfitting by SWS E (Tony Powlesland, Keith James and Les Cole) raced into a 3 nil lead only for Astor A (Clive Davies, Andy Watmore and Steve Harvey) to level the match. The battle ensued and the match was drawn which was affair results but at the end no single player claimed a maximum.
Molyneux Associates C’s Alper Eroglu and Yaz Azizi both gained maximum but surprisingly Toby Spencer failed to gain a point in their team’s victory over Crafthole B. It was a resolute performance from Crafthole to limit the score to 4-6, with each player winning a point and also taking the doubles.
Astor B hosted Woodland Fort A in a very tight match which ended in a 5-5 draw. It was a long evening with ten games going to a tie-break. Brian Luscombe (Fort) was the standout player with his maximum but each time it went to five ends. Alper Eroglu (Astor) prevailed against Abel Herandez in four very close games with each one being a tie-break 10-12, 14-12, 13-11, 15-13. Woodland Fort C hold top the division at this early stage after an 8-2 win over Fitness At Home. However, it might have been a whitewash win if Mike Willis and Lucas Deves had not lost both fifth end games 9-11 and 10-12 to Mike Chapple and John Dodd respectively.
Shaun Hughes of Molyneux Associates F maintained his 100% start to phase 3 against home team Molyneux Associates D. Alan Davis, Peter Andrews and Jeremy Willcox all secured braces for Molyneux D and with the doubles won 7-3.
