Shopfitting by SWS D (Steve Foster, Rob Barnes and Bryn Ford) welcomed their A side (Johnny Hill, Sam Rose and Mike Briggs) and were out classed during the evening losing 10 nil. Woodland Fort B won their first ever match in Div One thanks to stand-in Toby Spencer taking a maximum from Shopfitting by SWS D. Graham Cooksley also took a brace defeating Rob Barnes and Bryn Ford. However, Spencer and Cooksley both needed a fifth end tie-break win to take their points.
DIV TWO:
Lucas Deves playing up from a lower division acquitted himself well for Astor A and managed two victories. Deves showed some fine attacking play and also managed to take a game against (the unbeaten on the night) Richard Smaridge from Lee Mill. The match of the evening was Smaridge v Steve Harvey. Smaridge breezed into a 2-0 lead but Harvey fought back to steal the next game 14-12. Harvey then stormed into a 10-0 lead before winning 11-3. The final set was nip and tuck with Smaridge eventually winning 13-11. Astor finally won the match 7-3.

It finished late into the evening with only one singles completed in three ends and over 800 points played for with 11 tie breaks. Martin Wilcox (Crafthole) led the way with his first maximum of the season and was backed up by Martin Hynes (2) and Paul Ager (1) plus the doubles together for their points. Steve Garlick of Shopfitting by SWS C had no travel problems going to Crafthole A taking all of his teams three points whilst his team mates must have suffered car sickness!

Steve Hill of Molyneux Associates B continues his excellent play with a maximum for his team in a 7-3 win over Shopfitting by SWS D. With his normal defender style of play his attacking shots have proven to be outrageously reliable. The whole evening had a mixture of defence and attacking shots but most importantly all matches were played with a great sporting spirit.
DIV TWO:
Seventeen-year-old Toby Spencer is continuing to impress this season as he claimed another maximum for Molyneux Associates C in his team 8-2 victory over Shopfitting by SWS E. Left hander Chris Tucker won both of SWS’s points but he failed to defat Spencer after being 2-1 ahead losing 8-11, 11-8, 11-8, 7-11, 4-11.
With some very close sets, Astor B beat Lee Mill 7-3 but the match could have gone either way; notably Ann Warren’s match with Ken Chambers. The third game swayed to and fro with Warren eventually getting the necessary two-point lead to win 20-18 and then going on to win the match. Alper Eroglu (Astor) had a great game against Richard Smaridge which resulted in rare loss for Smaridge.
With a venue changed to accommodate Astor A, Crafthole B gave the home advantage away. Crafthole evidently were missing in-form player Anthony Shapland losing 3-7. There was a comfortable maximum for Steve Harvey, accompanied with braces form Andy Watmore and Clive Davies.

Molyneux Associates C’s Alper Eroglu and Yaz Azizi both gained maximum but surprisingly Toby Spencer failed to gain a point in their team’s victory over Crafthole B. It was a resolute performance from Crafthole to limit the score to 4-6, with each player winning a point and also taking the doubles.
Astor B hosted Woodland Fort A in a very tight match which ended in a 5-5 draw. It was a long evening with ten games going to a tie-break. Woodland Fort C hold top the division at this early stage after an 8-2 win over Fitness At Home. However, it might have been a whitewash win if Mike Willis and Lucas Deves had not lost both fifth end games 9-11 and 10-12 to Mike Chapple and John Dodd respectively.
Shaun Hughes of Molyneux Associates F maintained his 100% start to phase 3 against home team Molyneux Associates D. Alan Davis, Peter Andrews and Jeremy Willcox all secured braces for Molyneux D and with the doubles won 7-3.
